Valhalla Homestead
Bourbon Red Turkeys
This rare breed of Heritage Turkey was originally called the Tuscarora or Tuscawara and developed in Pennsylvania by crossing the Buff, Bronze and White Holland turkeys. The new breed was taken to Bourbon County, Kentucky, renamed 'Bourbon Red' and admitted into the American Poultry Association (APA) in 1909. These beautiful birds have a very dark, rich, chestnut color with bright white on the wing tips and portions of the tail. They are slower growing than broad-breast birds, but make a wonderful addition to your homestead.
